Asociación de amoxicilina a dosis altas con sulbactam para el tratamiento de la otitis media aguda

2001
Summary Three hundred and twelve pediatric outpatients were enrolled in an open, multicenter trial in order to evaluate the effectiveness and tolerability of amoxicillin 200 mg/ml + sulbactam 50 mg/ml oral suspension (AxSb) administering the total daily dose fractioned every 12 hours, for 10 days, for the treatment of acute otitis media (AOM) of suspected bacterial origin. Otodynia decreased from 6.9 ± 0.07 (day 0) to 3.09 ± 0.09 and 2.02 ± 0.06 (days 3 and 10 respectively) (p <0.001). During the same period, temperature dropped from 37.9 ± 0.04° C to 36.7 ± 0.02° C and 36.5 ± 0.02° C (p <0.001). The otomicroscopic score improved from 2.7 ± 0.04 (day 0) to 1.35 ± 0.06 (day 3) and 0.23 ± 0.18 (day 10) (p <0.001). The clinical response was also favorable.
