Vitamin E: What Should We Do?

1986
In Reply.— Wiswell and Cornish report three large surveys for neonatal polycythemia among US Army dependents. One of these, entitled "Neonatal Polycythemia in Hawaii,"1 is referenced and thus available in more detail. The incidence of polycythemia among the three populations varies from 0.42% in the largest survey to 1.46% in the group from Brooke Army Medical Center. Initial criterion for study in the referenced article was by peripheral hematocrit screening at a time similar to ours.
