The use of Statins in the elderly is associated with less severe hypoglycemia in patient with diabetes

Abstract Three hundred and eighty-nine older patients with diabetes attending an ambulatory diabetes center were included to determine risk factors of severe hypoglycemia (SH). Thirty-three (8.5 %) patients had at least one severe hypoglycemia. In multivariate analyze, statin was associated with lower risk and insulin was associated with higher risk of SH.
