Long Term Amantadine Treatment the Danger of Withdrawal

: Three elderly Parkinsonian patients on long term amantadine therapy (mean nine years) are presented. In each case abrupt withdrawal of amantadine resulted in rapid deterioration in the patient's condition which was corrected by reintroduction of amantadine.
