The incidence of wound sepsis in a community hospital.

1984
WOUND infection in a prospective series of 617 patients are reported from a community hospital. An overall infection rate of 7.2% was achieved with little difference between the rate in clean-contaminated, contaminated, and dirty cases. Factors thought to influence the rate of wound infection are discussed and attention is drawn to the technique of wound closure.
