Preparation of ZnO Nanoparticles and Their Photocatalytic Property

ZnO is a well-known photocatalyst for its high efficiency,non-toxic nature and low cost.With zinc acetate and oxalic acid as reactants,nano-ZnO is manufactured using sol-gel method.The nano-ZnO structure and morphology are then analyzed by XRD and SEM.The results show that nano-ZnO particles are fine zinc mine hexagon crystalline at various annealing temperatures,their average diameters are uniform at 10~55 nm in spherical shape.The light catalytic property was examined by decoloring the simulation methyl orange solution.It finds that annealing temperature influences the photocatalytic property of nano-ZnO,and the decoloring efficiency is dependant on the annealing temperature,which reaches maximum of 61% at annealing temperature of 450℃.
