Is there any association of a specific chest X-ray pattern and bacteremia in children with pneumonia?

This paper summarizes the results of a prospective study undertaken to evaluate whether there is an association of chest X-ray pattern and bacteremia in children diagnosed with pneumonia in Salvador Brazil from September 1997-October 1999. The results suggest that bacteremic pneumonia may manifest itself radiologically in an alveolar or an interstitial infiltrate and confirm the conclusion of previous studies that radiological diagnosis is not an etiological one.
