Combined model of meson production in pp collisions

1988
Inclusive production of mesons in proton--proton collisions is studied using the combined quark--parton model, which unites the mechanisms of quark--antiquark fusion and recombination into the final meson and takes into account the parton transverse momentum. In the case of production of pseudoscalar mesons the contribution from decay of light vector resonances is included. The modified Kuti--Weisskopf model is used to calculate the parton distribution functions, and the corresponding parameters of the distribution functions are found by comparison with experiment. Good agreement between the theoretical calculations and the experimental data is obtained for a wide range of primary energies in the case of both the total cross sections for meson inclusive production and the distributions in the longitudinal and transverse meson momenta.
