Role of circulating microRNAs in type 2 diabetes mellitus and its microvascular complications

2019
In recent years, several studies have shown that circulating microRNA is closely related to the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes and its various complications. Due to its stability, high specificity, and inducibility, microRNA has gradually become a biomarker for studying the pathogenesis of diabetes at the post-transcriptional level and predicting type 2 diabetes and its complications. This review summarizes the role of circulating miRNAs in the pathogenesis and microvascular complications of type 2 diabetes, and provides a new idea for the diagnosis and treatment of type 2 diabetes and its complications. Key words: MicroRNA; Diabetes mellitus, type 2; Pathogenesis; Biomarkers; Complications
