Nitrification intensity in a low moor peat soil and its inhibition

1996
The low moor peaty soil has been composted during 12 weeks in a laboratory experiment with various forms of nitrogen fertilizers: CO(NH 2 ) 2 , (NH4) 2 SO 4 , NH 4 NO 3 , CO(NH 2 ) 2 + (NH 4 ) 2 SO 4 in order to determine the level of N-NH 4 and N-NO 3 . accumulation in soils. The soil composting with temperature 28 °C and moisture making up 70 percent of the total capacity, without fertilizer (control) resulted in sixfold increment, with fertilizers 20-fold, of mineral nitrogen in soil, with nitrates prevailing. The rates of nitrogen transformation depended on the initial type of fertilizer only in the first 2-4 weeks. The application of nitrification inhibitors: 1-carbamois, -3(5) methylpyrasol (CMP) reduced the nitrification intensity by 2-3 times and maintained and mineral nitrogen as ammonia during 10 weeks.
