Exclusion Limits on Minimal Anomaly Free \(\mathrm {U}(1)\) Extensions of the Standard Model

2018
We take into account a class of minimal \(\mathrm {U}(1)\) extensions of the Standard Model (SM) which are free from all types of gauge anomalies. In our setup, the particle spectrum of the SM is extended by a complex scalar whose vacuum expectation value breaks the extra \(\mathrm {U}(1)\) symmetry and three generations of heavy right-handed neutrinos that are required for anomaly cancellation. Using the latest LHC data and electroweak precision test measurements, we find that the parameter space of these models are heavily constrained. We classify various \(\mathrm {U}(1)\) extensions by a single parameter \(\kappa \) and present our exclusion limits model independently.
